Egotistical, polysyllabic, multi-metaphoric obsfucation (EPMO) occurs when a diminished and damaged ego uses unnecessary linguistic or metaphoric puffery to convey to others that it is superior in some way, or that it understands something that it does not. You often find EPMO in literary, academic, and/or intellectual circles. Linguistic EPMO is more common than metaphoric EPMO though metaphoric EPMO does exist, especially in artistic and/or esoteric circles.
The only know cure (and defense) for EPMO is a good slap in the face with a fish. Failing that, giggles and some childish finger pointing often does the trick. If you are a perpetrator of EPMO, you can self treat by repeating, several times, with deep intonation, bended head, and downcast eyes.
“Huck mir nisht a chynick, and I don’t mean efsher.”

So, recently my wife and I had a conversation with a wife and her man. It was a fascinating conversation that broached several topics ranging from entheogens to the nature of reality to the best way to awaken people, and so on. At one point, the conversation even broached the topic of immortality and the survival of consciousness after death. I of course came down on the side of immortality. I’ve seen with my own eyes the reality of the soul, the preservation of identity past death, and the awesome wisdom and intelligence of the Fabric of Consciousness, so there’s nothing anybody can say to me that would convince me that when we die, consciousness ends. But this women had a different idea. Although she was very open to the idea of “higher consciousness,” and had apparently journeyed the highways of higher consciousness once or twice in her life, she did not believe that consciousness survived death. She believed that when you die, your body merges back into the cosmic energy soup and you end. Consciousness goes on, of course, but you don’t. Read the rest of this entry »

Excerpted from The SpiritWiki
An Archetype is basically an idea used to control the manifestation of reality. An archetype can function at the individual level, or the meta-level (i.e., the group level, the societal level, and the planetary level). An archetype functions at each level by virtue of its acceptance into consciousness. An organizing archetype accepted by a single individual is functional and influential primarily at the individual level only. By the same token, an archetype accepted into the consciousness of the planet is functional and influential at all levels. Read the rest of this entry »

The SpiritWiki is my online encyclopedia of authentic (i.e., new world) spirituality, psychology, sociology, and science. It’s the place where I define all the concepts and ideas that I’m using while building my “framework” for understanding life, the universe, and everything.
In order to introduce people to the SpiritWiki, I’m going to use this container to talk about some of the concepts and ideas I use in there. Every week or so I’ll pick a concept or definition and write about it/explain it here. This will be good for me because it will force me to begin the process of explicating and integrating the concepts. It will be good for you, I suppose, if you are interested in an alternative spiritual/scientific theory that might have strong explanatory potential. If you are intrigued and want to follow along, I recommend keeping an eye on http://casestudy.michaelsharp.org. That’s where I’ll throw the main body of theory as it becomes available. You may also want to have a look at this conceptual map as well.

The Fuzzy Head of Charles Darwin
So I’m bored and browsing the web and I find a little story in the BBC about the rise of creationism. Apparently, more and more people around the world are abandoning science’s account of evolution in favor of a more faith based idea that God created the universe.

So recently I had some guy (I assume it’s a guy by the energy of the comment he left) wander over to my site. He looked around for a little while and then posted some dismissive and unsubstantive criticism of the site which, because it was unsubstantive, I pretty much ignored. Still, he did make one comment that caused me to pause. He criticized the fact that I had used the word “God” on the site. Nay. It wasn’t a criticism. He actually said I had insulted his intelligence by my use of the word “God” on the site.

Here’s me and my family, Cape Point, South Africa on the vacation leg of a recent book tour there. There’s me, the blond with the hair in face, my brilliant wife Gina, my glorious son Niko, my stunning daughter Vayda, and my divine little Tristan. Stephen my magnificent older son is missing but since he was looking after our home while we were gone, he was probably thinking of us as much as we were thinking of him. Read the rest of this entry »
